Work Party: Tuesday 12th December 2023

This morning the volunteers met at Pont John in Clydach to tackle the weed in and around the canal. The weather was a bit grim – cold with occasional sharp showers – but we all soldiered on bravely. Dave, Christina & Moira cut back brash along the towpath (sorry about the lousy photo, ladies!) whilst the rest of us pulled weed and cleared the stone edging.

Tea was taken in the shelter of the nearly-complete Clydach Canal Centre. Special thanks are due to Alan & Jan for providing mince pies and a delicious sponge cake plus a very welcome tot of port!

After the break, work continued with the weed and Andy, Chris & Alan T reinstated an edging sleeper that had almost tumbled into the cut.

Not the most pleasant of days to be out and about but nothing stops the doughty SCS volunteers!
