Work Party: Tuesday 17th June 2025
We worked at the Swansea Canal Centre for the second week running, this time in lovely, warm sun. Lots of assorted tasks were tackled. |
The first attempt at sheltering the boat proved insufficient to withstand the dreadful weather of last Thursday so Bob baled out the boat once again before he and Andy attempted to rig the tarpaulin in a sturdier manner. Fingers crossed! |

Most of the vols extended the path alongside the canal. This task is now in danger of assuming Kafkaesque properties. |

Other tasks, in no particular order, included checking the protection added to one of our canoes last week. It seems to have worked so John and Mike returned the boat to the canoe store. |

Dave made excellent progress with weeding what remains of the grassy knoll. |
Martin, Chris and Moira worked their usual magic on the flowerbeds. Apologies to the ladies for forgetting to photograph them. |

Our new chums from Hendrefelin School first picked up litter and then trimmed growth protruding through the fence. |
Chris mowed the grass, taking great care to avoid the beautiful clumps of purple heather. |

Paul and Sharon removed a stash of branches that had been dumped alongside the stone barge. |
Gordon took a dumped mobility scooter plus other rubbish to the scrapyard, for which he received £30! |

Tea today was accompanied by lovely Welsh cakes and Lamington baked by Jan. Delicious! |
That’s it folks. A very productive session in very lovely weather. |
