Work Party: Tuesday 18th November 2025

The first really cold day of the winter, plus a few light showers later on, but nothing stops our volunteers who were quickly warming up with hard graft at the Swansea Canal Centre.

The main task was to complete the hard standing for the community garden. Vast quantities of concrete were mixed and then levelled into place. First, the second table area was filled and the the path leading to it was finished. That just left the short path to the first table area. We also concreted in place a frame for an information panel. A bit of left-over concrete was used to cover some tiles alongside the canal and the job was done. Phew, a lot of hard work over the last three Tuesdays!

Elsewhere, Martin and Dave tidied the existing flowerbed.

Gordon, Dianne and John Gw removed more stones from the grassy knoll.

Phil, Sue and Andy pulled yet more weed from the canal. Another very physical task, but well worth it.

Tea was eventually taken in the the workshop. Eventually is the key word here as the brawny but not necessarily brainy concreting team pitched up, realised they didn’t know how to boil a kettle and retuned to work until John Gw managed to fathom the technology. Delicious cakes were provided by Jan W and Margaret.

That’s it folks! Concreting completed. Next week we will install the tables and benches.
