Work Party: Tuesday 23rd June 2026
Phew, what a scorcher! With the mercury creeping up to 30ºC and high humidity a smallish group of volunteers got together and tried to keep hydrated and relatively cool. Moira and Sharon remained at the Canal Centre to garden and sort out at last the feed-in tariff for all that lovely electricity generated by our solar panels. The rest of us went to the Buried Lock site, where Peter and Chris cut back the vegetation encroaching upon the towpath between the lock and Coed Gwilym Park. |

Work continued to line the by-wash. Gordon manned the mixer. John, Kev and Alan laid a row of concrete-filled bags to form a base. John and Andy added more stones to the wall. One more week? |

Alan, with Kev acting as his banksman, did a bit more pointing in the lock chamber. |

Gordon started on laying the stone facing atop the block wall that separates the lock and boat basins. |
Diane gardened in the full sunshine. The oil seed rape proved tricky to pull out of the baked ground. |

Tea was taken with goodies baked by Andy. |
We returned to work after tea but sensibly decided to call it a day once the concrete had been used up. Maybe not the best of days to be working outdoors, but we made decent progress in gruelling conditions. |
