Work Party: Tuesday 25th February 2025

A glorious, bright and nearly spring day saw the gang back on the bank behind the Clydach police station for the third week in a row with a final push to clear the area prior to dredging of the canal.

First up, the litter picking team cleared the area before crossing over to patrol the towpath.

Alan, Chris M, Dave, Gareth and Mike slashed back yet more brambles, culminating in the unveiling of the Gareth Thomas Steps, crafted so lovingly by him so many years ago!

The rest of the vols followed Gordon along the bank. He plunged in with his chainsaw as usual, pausing only to change a chain. We followed in his wake, cutting and stashing the brash. This work continued both sides of tea.

We took our break in the Canal Centre enjoying lovely cakes baked by Jan.

And finally, Martin contributed four fantastic photos of crocuses and tête-a-tête daffodils in the Hebron Road garden, Bob and John Gw painting rusty scaffolding tubes for supporting a walkway along the canal wall and the brand new basin outside the Centre full of water. Lots more to do but Daley Homes are really doing a great job.

The end of another very productive day. It was a pleasure to be out and about in the warm sunshine.
