Work Party: Tuesday 29th October 2024

Today was mild and bright as the vols worked to clear weed from the canal at Pont John, both before and after tea. The hard work was done by Lance, Duncan, Phil, Martin, Ronnie, Bob & Andy. David cut brash from alongside the bridge and, despite repeated requests, chucked the trimmings into the canal. The last photo, taken as the rain started, shows the result of our hard labour.

Taking a break from weed pulling, Martin also cleared overgrowth from the sleepers edging the wall upstream from the bridge. As he pointed out, he seems to have buried his legs in the mud once again.

The litter pickers today were Mike, Sharon and Sue (just visible in the third photo above).

Your denizen of the Street of Shame inexplicably forgot to take photos of the tea break, where we were treated to sweet and savoury baking by Andy and Ronnie. No matter, we all seemed to enjoy ourselves and got through a big shift.
