Work Party: Tuesday 5th May 2026

A rather small group of volunteers, depleted by illness and holidays met today in nice conditions that was really warm when the sun came out. John Gw and Kev stayed at the Canal Centre where they repaired the roof on our small box trailer – sorry chaps, no photo. The rest of the gang worked at the Buried Lock site. |

Jean and Diane gardened the bank that is starting to look lovely now the new plants have bedded in. |

Tea was taken in St Benedict’s car park. Jan W’s cakes were absolutely delicious, as usual.

|
All these tasks continued after tea, plus Gordon and Phil laid the base for a wall to finish off a corner at the most upstream end of the site.

While all this hard work was going on, Andy escorted Geoff Hobbs, here to assess us for the Green Flag Community Award, on a tour of the canal in Clydach. Here is finding out how easy it is to open and close a lock gate. |
|
Our group may have been small this week, but the output was immense, as usual. It’s great to be out and about, working hard in the sunshine. |
