Work Party: Tuesday 7th April 2026

Work Party: Tuesday 7th April 2026

The warmest day of the year so far and the volunteers met at the Swansea Canal Centre to tackle two main tasks.

The gardeners worked hard to tend to the flowerbeds and plant more plants generously donated by John Gw.

The second task was to lay concrete bases for tables and benches, but first the trailer had to be manoeuvred out of the way. In doing so, the tyres came of their rims so John Gw fixed and refitted them.

Gordon formed shuttering for two bases. The topsoil was removed, then levelled before being lined with weed resistant membrane.

Tea was taken in the warm spring sunshine. Jan W and Andy were today’s bakers. Andy’s Simnel cake was highly commended!

After tea, concrete was mixed and trundled through the garage where it was raked into shape to form two lovely bases.

A sunny day of hard labour, spoiled only by Roxi disgracing herself by sploshing water into the centre and Andy, worse still, disgracing himself by failing to control her. Plus ça change!
