Work Party: Tuesday 7th July 2026

On this beautiful day, the volunteers laboured under the hot summer’s sun in two locations – the Buried Lock Site and Coed Gwilym Park.

Two major tasks in the Buried Lock Site: Firstly, we tackled the by-wash walls. Gordon mixed the concrete, Kev and Phil transported it to the end of the by-wash, John, Phil, Aled, Kev and Andy gathered stones and Lance, James and John set them in place. So nearly finished – one more mix should do the trick!

Gordon continued to face with good stone the dividing wall between the boat basin and the lead-in to the lock.

Meanwhile, the gardeners were hard at work in Coed Gwilym Park.

Gary weeded beneath the rails.

Gary, Jan, and Chris cleared the forecourt.

Moira, Jean, Jan and Diane tidied the flower beds.

Tea was taken in the park with tasty cakes and the world-famous cheese scones baked by Jan.

Work continued after tea in both locations. The final task was left to Roxi – one more stick to deal with!
