Work Party: Tuesday 7th May 2024
Scorchio! A gloriously sunny day put a spring in everyone’s step. The work party was based at the Swansea Canal Centre but on his way Martin called in at the Buried Lock site, and writes: |
|
Early May morning in the Buried Lock Site. Note the sub soil on the left bank is now in place. Once the top soil is added our native saplings can be planted. And here are the saplings waiting patiently for that planting day. The weather has been so wet that they are all in good health. |

Andy cut buddleia and sycamore to tidy the edge of the canal. He also received an industrial injury – something got in his eye, causing an allergic reaction! |

Most of the troops continued to clear the ground on the canal side of the Centre. One final push and the job will be done. |

Mike C and Sue are our regular litter pickers. Since the sad death of dear John Allen, Sue has taken over the litter picking duties on the canal path from Bridge 8 down to Clydach. Between them today they filled four bags of litter. We are very grateful to both of them. If only the weather was always so nice! |
Tea was taken with biscuits purchased as an emergency due to an unfortunate breakdown in communications – blame the Catering Coordinator (Andy). Jay from Whitethorns joined us and was particularly keen to chat with Mike F. |

A cracking day’s work in cracking weather. We guarantee that the first of these will happen again but we’re not to sure about the second. |
