Work Party: Tuesday 8th August 2023
As Martin said “What a wet start to the day”. A somewhat depleted set of volunteers met at the canal by the Glantawe Riverside Park where the tasks were to repair a large wash hole and generally clear the towpath. Unfortunately, the rain came down in torrents, at least until teatime. |
For the wash hole repair, Gordon, Chris, John Grav and Martin mixed concrete and filled hessian sacks. Here they can be seen in a moment’s peaceful reverence before the alter of the mixer. JOhn did his damnedest to get the hessian bags from base camp to Alan at the wash hole in the shortest possible time. Alan T and Mike laid the bags. Martin’s caption to the final photo is priceless – “It’s either Alan T waiting for a quicker supply of sandbags or John the Baptist touting for more full immersion baptisms”. |
Sue, Chris and Andy hacked back the vegetation along the canal bank. |
Time for tea, with a selection of Ronnie’s scrumptious cakes. Rick Hughes from the Friends of the Tennant Canal group stopped by for a chat and, mercifully, the rain stopped! |
Oh dear, another very wet day but it takes more than a drop of rain to stop the Swansea Canal Society volunteers. |
