Today proved to be pleasantly bright and mild as the volunteers met at the Swansea Canal Centre to tackle a variety of tasks. The gardeners, including Martin making a welcome return to the front line, tidied the beds and cut back willow and buddleia. The main problem was where to dispose of all the rubbish!

Gary put his shiny new strimmer to good use.

Most of the vols worked along the towpath up to and beyond Pont John. New recruit David made a very welcome addition to the crew.

Phil and Tom dragged a bike from the cut, adding to the day’s trophy haul.

Tea was taken outside the Centre. Andy was today’s baker.

All these activities, together with Alan adjusting the wooden bench and hanging a sign, continued after tea. The Centre now looks much better for a general tidy.
