Work Party: Tuesday 9th January 2024

The first volunteering day of 2024 was bitterly cold but gloriously bright and sunny. The vols were soon hard at work at Pont John in Clydach. They cleared the remainder of the weed from last year and left the canal above and below the bridge spick and span.

Mike and Alan were as busy as ever. The amount of rubbish discarded along the towpath never ceases to amaze.

A splinter group cleared the ground in front of the site office and store in the Buried Lock site so that work can continue on Phase II of the redevelopment.

Tea was taken in the comfort of the nearly completed Canal Centre. Chris’s baking was delicious and Whitethorn’s sweets an added bonus.

The temperature was so low that most vols knocked off early but we all agreed that we started 2024 as we mean to continue.
