YGG Trebannws Visit to the Canal, February 2025

Pupils from YGG Trebannws visited the Swansea Canal Centre in February. Sharon, our Education Officer showed them around the centre and took them for a short walk along the canal to Pont John.

Amy writes: We had a fantastic day; the pupils really enjoyed and got so much out of it! They learnt so much about the history of the canal, the heritage of their local area and could re-call much of the information you’d presented to them and learnt while doing the hands on build a canal activity and the quiz completed at the centre. We have since worked on project work to further their understanding and they’ve produced excellent pamphlets on the history and current use of the canal, and made a digital presentation. We’ve also used the work to compete in a heritage competition where a judge came to see the pupils’ work. We are awaiting to hear if we have been successful!

We are so pleased that the learners enjoyed their visit. We welcome visits from all schools. Please contact us if you would would like to arrange a visit.
