Preparing for the Canoes

Preparing for the Canoes

On a fabulous late October day, we began our off-side pruning to clear a wider channel for the canoes due in March 2014. ‘Ada’ and ‘Nellie’ were launched and we started to clear the bramble immediately opposite the Coed Gwilym Park slipway.

Gordon tied a line across the canal to make the crossing easier and we disposed of the clippings on CRT land on the tow path side.

I rowed ‘ADA’ up the canal, clearing as I went, and, turning back, got this picture of the work party bathed in a holy glow of righteous labour.

Though looking at it closely, they all seem to have skived off for tea.

Ah, there they are, back at work.

All the hours worked go towards our match funding target that is a minimum 10% of the SPLASH grant.
