For years we have campaigned for the canal to be reintroduced to its former route south of Clydach and, in spite of the Atkins feasibility study of 2002 nothing much has happened. Well, good old Mother Nature has taken a hand. Normally a dried bed, the canal south of the Players yard in Ynystawe has reverted to a rather pleasing water feature, due to the incessant downpour of the last two weeks. The slight depression in the earth has gone from a dry hollow (as shown below ) to a primordial lake (as above).

In places,as below, it is quite canal shaped (though rather too narrow for boating).

If we could all get our shovels out, start digging and buy some puddling clay we could have another 100 yards of canal by Easter!
