Work Party: Tuesday 16th June 2026
Weather-wise, today started off with a bit of drizzle that soon passed leaving the morning oppressively muggy. |
Most of the action took place in the Hidden Lock site but first the gardeners continued to tidy up around the Swansea Canal Centre. Doesn’t it look glorious? |

The big task in the lock site was to continue to line the by-wash. Gordon and Pete mixed the concrete while Andy, Kev and Phil gathered the stones. Then Chris, James, John, Sharon and Tom set them expertly in place. Only a few metres to go – the job will be completed next week! |

Alan with his labourer Kev built up a bit more of the corner wall at the most upstream end of the site. |

Gordon chipped level the blocks dividing the lock from the basin. The blocks will then be topped with stone. He also rigged up a pump to see how quickly the water level above the lock could be reduced. This will need to be done when the time comes to remove the final barrier at the head of the lock. |

A very productive session today – and the end of the by-wash is in sight. |
