Alan and James accompanied John as he struggled to find a way through the weed between the Buried Lock and the Mond Lock. The intrepid canoeist eventually completed the run but at times he was weed-surfing rather than floating on the water!

This stretch of the canal is in desperate need of dredging but at least John managed to clear a half-decent channel.
