We were delighted to meet Jeremy Miles, the Neath Assembly Member, at the Ynysmeudwy Upper Lock  today. His Community Liaison Officer, Rachel Thomas, accompanied him and we were  very pleased that David Morgan and Ceri Davies from the Canal and River Trust were also able to be to be with us.

Jeremy was able to see the work that our volunteers do every week as well as inspecting the repointing and rebuilding of the Upper Lock by-wash which was started by the Waterway Recovery Group in August this year. Andy, Alan, Gareth and Toby continued this important task by removing the large tree roots damming up the bottom half of the bywash. The timber edging sleepers  on the towpath edge were also uncovered. They may need replacing!

vegetation removed ftom the edging timber sleepers, some now very badly rotten

We thank Rachel, Jeremy, David and Ceri for the time they took to see our work. Together we can continue these improvements and get the locks working once again.
