Work Party: Tuesday 31st March 2026

Today was essentially a repeat of last week. A slightly different sub-set of volunteers continued a range of tasks in the Buried Lock site. The one significant change was we were bathed in glorious, warm sunshine.

Gary scooped yet more leaf mulch from the boat basin. Pete hauled it up and Phil barrowed it to the garden.

Jean and Moira planted primroses from John Gw’s garden. Phil enriched the garden with leaf mulch.

Gordon cut up the base to the wide bridge that we once used to cross the by-wash with our machinery. No longer needed, as the kit has been relocated to the Canal Centre.

Alan began to install mooring posts alongside the lock.

The by-wash squad was once again in action. As usual, Lance mixed the mortar. Chris, Andy, James and Sharon laid the stones.

Tea was taken with tasty cakes baked by Jan W.

All the tasks continued after tea until it was time to pack up and return the trailer to Hebron Road. Paul was with us today, so he recorded one of his legendary videos. Another excellent day’s work, this time in the warm spring sun.
